Writing is a skill and if you have it we want to hear from you! We’re looking for creative writers who have experience living, studying, interning, volunteering, working or traveling abroad. Contributors must be able to write captivating and relevant articles that appeal to the diverse readership who visit DiversityAbroad.com for international study and travel resources.

Five Rules to Publishing with Us

  1. Join the DiversityAbroad.com Community

    DiversityAbroad.com is an online community and we want all of our contributors to be a part of it. We give preference to writers who are a part of our community. So ‘Like Us’, ‘Follow Us’ post to the discussion board, share videos, pictures, or post blogs to become part of our community. Create a DiversityAbroad.com account here.

  2. Know Before You Write

    DiversityAbroad.com is a unique site that among other things encourages and connects diverse students, recent graduates and young professionals meaningful international opportunities. Get familiar with our mission, current content and write articles that are in sync with our community. We’re looking for articles that pertain to the following: travel abroad, living abroad, study abroad, intern abroad, work abroad, volunteer abroad, teach abroad, language learning abroad, high school/Gap year and graduate school abroad. Articles should can be broad or focus on specific locations.

  3. Be Creative

    Creativity is key! Write articles that are creative and engaging. If you already see the topic on our site write about something else (unless you can significantly add to what is already there).

  4. Know Your Rights

    Become familiar with Publishing and Author Right’s before you submit.

  5. We Pay

    If we choose your article to be published we’ll pay you $25. The payment will be sent to you via PayPal once we have published the article.

Two Steps to Submitting Your Article

  1. Step 1

    All articles should be an original draft that does not exceed 2,000 words. 1000 is ideal. We’re big on originality so please do not send an article that has already been published somewhere else as an article or blog. We’re also big on professionalism so please check your facts as well as spelling, grammar and punctuation.

  2. Step 2

    Send you article to info@diversityabroad.com. Remember to attach your profile picture (not to exceed 300x300), a brief bio, and up to two high resolutions pictures that we can use with article.

What Happens Next?

After we have received your article our editorial team will review it. Given the volume of submissions it may take up to 3 weeks for you to hear from us. Once the team has reviewed the article we’ll contact you and let you know if it has been accepted, declined or needs revisions.

Articles that have been accepted may be edited by our team to ensure the content is in sync with the tone of our community and optimized for search engines.

Promote Your Story

Once we've published the article it's time for you to promote! Here are three simple ways to promote your article.


  • Share it on Facebook

    Share your article with friends, and friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends and... You get the point! Post your article on Facebook and be sure to tag @diversityAbroad.com in your post.

  • Share it on Twitter

    Do you tweet? Promote your article to your twitter followers and be sure to let us know and we'll retweet it.

  • Share it on LinkedIn

    Don't only share the article with your FB friends. Post the article to your LinkedIn profile and groups and share your writing with your professional network too.
