Diversity Abroad was founded on simple concept; connect a fast growing and diverse population of students and young professionals with meaningful international opportunities that will prepare them for future education and career opportunities.
DiversityAbroad.com launched in 2006 followed by the Go Global Campus Tour in 2008. In 2010 Diversity Abroad launched the Diversity Abroad Network, the first international education consortium dedicated to increasing participation and better serving the needs of diverse and underrepresented students in international education

Andrew Gordon
President & Founder
Andrew is the Founder and President of Diversity Abroad. With a passion for working with diverse and underrepresented students, language, and cultures he founded Diversity Abroad in 2006 to help ensure all students had equal access to the benefits afforded through international education. Andrew has written and spoken extensively on topics pertaining to access, diversity, inclusion, and underrepresentation in international education. He has spoken on such topics at professional conferences including: NAFSA, AIEA, Forum on Education Abroad, Diversity Abroad, GIC, Going Global, CIEE, IES Abroad, and UCEAP.
Lily Lopez-McGee
Manager
Lily currently serves as the Manager for the Diversity Network at Diversity Abroad where she manages a professional network of institutions around the U.S. to improve student access to and participation in international education. She is a member of the Global Access Pipeline Initiative and an alumnus of the Institute for International Public Policy Fellowship. She is currently working toward her doctorate in education with a focus on international education at George Mason University. Lily is a graduate of the University of Washington, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Diedre Young
Student Services Manager
Deidre is an international education professional with a passion for exposing and connecting diverse groups with international experiences. She is dedicated to identifying, understanding, and providing solutions to address barriers to international education for participants, institutions, and other study abroad professionals. Deidre's journey to the field of international education began with a semester study abroad experience to Italy where she was one of only 3 students of color on a program of over 100 students. Deidre is originally from Memphis, TN and obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing at Howard University, a historically Black university in Washington, DC. Deidre joined the Diversity Abroad team in 2013.
